Hesston Wellness Center

Here are the events for February 2012 at the Hesston Wellness Center.

• February 1-29: Walkabout Gallery Artwork provided by Roma Schmidt.
• February 1, 8, 15 & 29: Tai Chi will meet in the Garden Room from 10:00-10:45 am on Wednesdays. 

Chair Tai Chi will meet at the Villa Chapel from 11:00-11:30 am on Wednesdays.

• February 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, & 28: Zumba will be meeting at the Hesston Elementary School from 7:00-8:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please note the change in time.  Ditch the Workout, Join the Party!
• February 3: National Wear Red Day.  Wear red and help spread the word about the #1 killer of women in America: heart disease.  All persons wearing RED attire will receive free admission to HWC on February 3.
• February 7, 14, 21 & 28: $2 Tuesdays.  Enjoy the wellness center for just $2.  Does not include Zumba.
• February 7, 14, 21 & 28: Yoga Fit.  HWC newest 7 week class taught by certified yoga fit instructor Jen LeFevre.  Need a cross-training workout?  This class will focus on strength, power, flexibility, and flexibility with a bit of meditation.  A great total body workout that will target the arms, core, glutes and legs.   
• February 7, 14, 21 & 28: Oil Painting Club meets from 9:00am-3:00pm in the Creative Arts Studio.  If you enjoy painting, this is the club for you.
• February 17 & 20: Extra Family Swim will be from 2:00-5:00 pm in addition to the regular times.
• February 18: Oil Painting Workshop. Class meets from 9am-3pm in the Creative Arts Studio.  Please pre-register at the front desk.
• February 19-25: No Aerobics Classes Week.  Land and aquatic classes will not meet this week.  Yoga Fit will meet during this week.

January 2012 Events

Here are the events for January 2012 at the Hesston Wellness Center.

• January 1-30: Walkabout Gallery Artwork provided by Debbie Erb.
• January 1-30: Dollar Days for New Members.  Join anytime in January and the $25 Joining Fee will be reduced based on the day that you join.  Join on January 1^st and the Joining Fee is $1.
• January 1-30: Join during the month of January and receive 1 Month FREE!  Members: refer a friend who joins in January and you will receive a FREE Months membership.
• January 1: Holiday Hours the Wellness Center will be open from 1:00-5:00pm.  Happy New Years!
• January 2, 3 & 16: Extra Family Swim will be from 2:00-5:00 pm in addition to the regular times.
• January 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31: Oil Painting Club meets from 9:00am-3:00pm in the Creative Arts Studio.  If you enjoy painting, this is the club for you.
• January 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26 & 31: Zumba will be meeting at the Hesston Elementary School from 7:00-8:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please note the change in time.  Ditch the Workout, Join the Party!

December 2011 Events

Here are the events for December 2011 at the Hesston Wellness Center.

• December 1-31: Walkabout Gallery Artwork provided by Mark Kucza.
• December 1-31: Holiday Fitness Frenzy Incentive is open to all HWC members.  Ward off unwanted weight gain by being more active during the holidays.  Cost is $2 per punch card to play.  Receive a punch for every 30 minutes of physical activity you do.  Each completed card enters you into a drawing for a $40 gift card! Sign up at the front desk today.

November Events

Here are the events for November 2011 at the Hesston Wellness Center.

• Fridays in November: Free Fridays. Enjoy the Wellness Center for free during the month of November.  This includes our fitness room, pool, and aerobics classes.
• November 1, 8 & 15: AARP Walking Program.  This 10-week incentive walking program is free and open to members of all ages in the area communities.  This class meets at HWC on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am.  Free pedometers to all participants.
• November 1, 8, 15, 24 & 29: Oil Painting Club meets from 9:00am-3:00pm in the Creative Arts Studio.  If you enjoy painting, this is the club for you!
• November 1, 8, 15 & 29: Yoga Flow meets in the Garden Level room from 5:15-6:00 pm.
• November 2, 9, 16 & 30: Aqua Zumba will meet in the HWC pool from 6:30-7:30 pm.  Join the party in the pool! 
• November 2, 9, 11, 16, 18 & 30: Tai Chi will meet in the Garden Room from 10:00-10:45 am on Wednesday and Fridays.  Chair Tai Chi will meet at the Villa Chapel from 11:00-11:30 am on Wednesday and Fridays.
• November 4: No Tai Chi or Chair Tai Chi.
• November 5: Enchanted Evening.  A gala to benefit the Showalter Villa’s Good Samaritan Caring Fund held at the Waters Edge at 6:00 pm.  Call Ariana Kauffman to make reservations.
• November 8: Flu Shots: Will be administered by the Harvey County Health Department at the Waters Edge from 9:00-12:00 pm. 
• November 11, 23 & 25: Extra Family Swim will be from 2:00-5:00 pm in addition to the regular times.
• November 19: Oil Painting Workshop. Class meets from 9am-3pm in the Creative Arts Studio.  Please pre-register at the front desk.
• November 21-26: No Aerobics Classes.  This includes all land and water aerobics classes.
• November 25: Holiday Hours: HWC will be closed on Thanksgiving.
• November 28: Winter Session Begins

October Events

Here are the events for October 2011 at the Hesston Wellness Center.

• October 1-31: Walkabout Gallery Artwork provided by Jeff Heidel.
• Tuesdays in October: $2 Tuesdays. Enjoy the Wellness Center for just $2 on Tuesdays during the month of October.  This does not include Zumba.
• October 4, 11, 18 & 25: AARP Walking Program.  This 10-week incentive walking program is free and open to members of all ages in the area communities.  This class meets at HWC on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am.  Free pedometers to all participants.
• October 4, 5 & 6: The Dust Bowl Revisited.  Film footage and eyewitness accounts will document the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s that devastated areas of Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.  This course cost $35 for all three sessions in the Schowalter Villa Chapel from 6:30-8:30 pm.  Schowalter Villa residents and HWC members register at the Wellness Center and others can register by calling 877-404-5823.  For more information call 620-327-3428.
• October 4, 11, 18 & 25: Oil Painting Club meets from 9:00am-3:00pm in the Creative Arts Studio.  If you enjoy painting, this is the club for you!
• October 4, 11, 18 & 25: Yoga Flow meets in the Garden Level room from 5:15-6:00 pm.
• October 5: Walk Your Kids to School Day will take place at Hesston Elementary School.  If your kid walks or rides their bike to school they will receive candy from HWC.  Kid’s should aim for at least 30 minutes (or more) of physical activity every day.
• October 5, 12, 19 & 26: Aqua Zumba will meet in the HWC pool from 6:30-7:30 pm.  Join the party in the pool! 
• October 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 & 28: Tai Chi.  Beginning Tai Chi will meet on Wednesdays from 10:00-10:45 am.  Advanced Tai Chi will meet on Wednesdays & Fridays from 11:00-11:45 am.
• October 11: Healthy Families Workshop.  A free workshop to teach families healthy eating and exercise habits featuring Sharon Penner.  Parents and children (k-6^th) are invited to this workshop held at the Hesston Wellness Center from 7:00-8:00 pm.  Healthy snacks and activities for kids will be provided.
• October 14, 20 & 21: Extra Family Swim will be from 2:00-5:00 pm in addition to the regular times.
• October 15: Oil Painting Workshop. Class meets from 9am-3pm in the Creative Arts Studio.  Please pre-register at the front desk.
• October 22: No Weekend Water Warriors.
• October 22: Showalter Villa 50^th Anniversary.  Living life to the fullest for fifty years!  Enjoy appetizers and desserts from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Hesston Mennonite Church followed by a program.

September Events

Here are the events for September 2011 at the Hesston Wellness Center.

• September 1-30: Dollar Days.  New members join during the month of September and the joiner free will be calculated based on the date you sign up.  Save $24 by signing up September 1^st.  Current members refer a friend and you will receive a free HWC t-shirt.
• September 1-30: Walkabout Gallery Artwork provided by Lois Zehr.
• September 2, 5 & 19: Extra Family Swim times for families including children under age 14 are from 2-5 pm in addition to the regularly scheduled hours.
• September 3: Fall Hours Begin.
• September 3 & 17: No Weekend Water Warriors.
• September 4-10 & 18-24: Member Bring a Friend Free Week. HWC members: bring a friend in to workout or take a class with you and they will receive free admission! (Does not include Zumba classes).
• September 5: Holiday Hours.  HWC will be open from 5:30am-12:00 pm on Labor Day.  No classes will be held.  Extra family swims from 9:00-11:45 am.
• September 6, 13, 20 $ 27: Oil Painting Club meets from 9:00am-3:00pm in the Creative Arts Studio.
• September 7: Aqua Zumba Kick Off!  Zumba party in the pool is from 6:30-7:30 pm.
• September 9-11 & 23-25: Free Weekends.  Nonmembers take advantage of our free weekends (Friday-Sunday).  Enjoy the fitness room, pool, spa and classes free of charge.
• September 13: AARP Walking Program Kick Off!  This 10 week incentive walking program is free and open to members of all ages in the area communities.  This class meets at HWC on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am.
• September 16 & 17: Villa Days

• June 7-July 13: Kindermusik “Zoo Train” Family Camp. Class will meet on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm in the Garden Level Room atHesstonWellnessCenter.  All aboard for the Zoo!  Zoo Train is designed as a family adventure, drawing on the movements, sights, and sounds of the animals at the zoo to inspire musical experiences and imaginary play.  Play instruments, sing, dance, move, share a story, and bring the zoo to life with your child this summer!  Each 1-hour class includes a snack.  Class is open to parents and children ages birth-7 years.  Cost: Tuition is $85 (1 child), $125 (2 children), $155 (3 children).  Materials include: take home CD, hardcover storybook, animal—shaped shaker for each child, and a home activity poster.  The class will be taught by Kristin Kliewer, Kindermusik teacher at Bethel College Academy of Performing Arts inNewton.  
• June 18: Oil Painting Workshop Cost is $30 to participate and includes all materials.  Class meets from 9am-4pm in the Creative Arts Studio.  Please pre-register at the front desk at least 1 week in advance.
• June 19: Free Father’s Day Fathers, get in free to the wellness center when you bring your child(ren) in to swim with you.  Open swim is from 1-4:45pm

• May 6, 13, 20 & 27:  Free Fridays
• May 21: Oil Painting Workshop
  This class is perfect for beginning and experience painters.  Cost is $30 to participate and includes all materials.  Class meets from 9am-4pm in the Creative Arts Studio.  Please pre-register at the front desk at least 1 week in advance.
• May 22-28: No Aerobics Classes
• May 26 & 27: Extra Family Swims will take place from 2-5pm during the week in addition to the regular family swim times.
• May 29: Summer session begins
• May 30: Memorial Day Hours
  We will be open from 5:30am-9:00pm on Memorial Day.  No classes will be held.
